Why Everything Is Breaking Right Now — And Why It Was Always Going to
There is a question underneath everything happening in the world right now — underneath the economic instability, the political fracturing, the sense that nothing is quite working the way it used to. The question is: is this random? Is this the accumulation of individual failures across individual systems? Or is there a larger pattern at work?
The latest episode of The Stina Life podcast begins with that question — and offers what I believe is the most important reframe available for living through this moment: the collapse is not random. It is cosmologically precise.
Five Systems, One Message
When I began mapping the major cosmological and energetic cycles converging right now, what struck me was not that one system was pointing to this window of time as significant. It was that five completely independent traditions — Western astrology, Chinese cosmology, Human Design, and the living electromagnetic body of the Earth — were all pointing to the same window. Developed in different cultures, different centuries, with no contact between them. All saying the same thing.
Pluto in Aquarius entered in 2024, beginning a 20-year transit through the sign of collective systems, technology, and the reorganisation of how human beings relate to one another. The last time Pluto moved through Aquarius: 1778 to 1798. The French Revolution. The American founding. The first breath of the Industrial Revolution. The entire Western world order rearranged in a single generation.
Chinese Period 9 — the 20-year fire cycle in Chinese cosmology — also began in 2024. In Chinese metaphysics, Period 8 was the era of accumulation: building, consolidating, expanding. Period 9 is where the fire arrives. What was built on genuine foundation holds. What was built on habit, corruption, or assumption — burns.
Two entirely separate traditions, beginning the same 20-year cycle of transformation in the same calendar year.
Uranus in Taurus, running from 2018 to 2026, has been the great awakener moving through the sign of earth — disrupting money, land, food systems, physical security, and our deepest value structures. Look at what has happened to every one of those domains since 2018.
Chiron in Aries, running alongside it, has been excavating something more personal: the wound at the centre of identity, the "I am" wound, the places where our sense of self was shaped more by what we survived than by who we actually are.
And in 2027: the Human Design Cross of Planning ends — the 400-year global era that built the modern world through outward expansion, institutional structure, and the systematic organisation of human life. What begins is called the Cross of the Sleeping Phoenix: the era of inward authority, personal sovereignty, and the individual as the primary creative force.
The Reframe That Changes Everything
The collapse is not malfunction. It is completion.
Every system dissolving was built for the era that is ending. The institutions of the Cross of Planning cannot house the Cross of the Sleeping Phoenix. The material structures shaken by Uranus were never as stable as they appeared. The identity wounds surfaced by Chiron were always there — waiting for a moment of excavation.
Understanding this doesn't make the dissolution less real or the grief less genuine. But it changes the relationship to it. You are not a passenger in a collapsing world. You are a participant in the most cosmologically significant transition most of us will ever live through.
